Бурелар (in the Bashkir alphabet: Бүреләр, transliterated as Burelar, meaning The Wolves in English) are a Bashkir rock band from Ufa, the capital city of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. Wolves are the totemic animal of the Bashkir people, symbolising the strength of spirit and desire for freedom. Formed in 2004, Burelar have participated in numerous music festivals and held two concerts in Moscow, performing songs with lyrics written in the Bashkir language. The combination of folk music element and modern rock style has created a unique atmosphere in Burelar's music. The eponymous debut(?) album of the band was released in October 2008, and currently (in spring of 2010) they are working on a new studio album.
