Futaba Nakayama was born in Osaka in 1981. She spent her teenage years on Yaku Island. She got her first electric guitar when she was in junior high school, and started to make songs. When she was in high school, she got a guitalele as her birthday present and began to play it in a band while she was at the Osaka University of Art. Around that time she also formed another band, NAKAZU TOBAZU with a friend, and actively played at cafes, live houses and art galleries in Osaka. The band finished when her friend moved to Tokyo, and she started to play solo. Her first album, Tomodachi Wa Inu Dake (My Only Friend Is a Dog) was released by Alchemy Records on October 25, 2006.
