In 1977, he released his debut single '思い出の渦/トゥナイト' in collaboration with Mari & Redstripes, together known as 杉真理&レッド・ストライプス. Since then, Masamichi Sugi has collaborated with/been a part of the following groups: THE HOSPITAL, BOX, Piccadilly Circus, Kaoru Sudo (須藤薫), ALOHA BROTHERS, MONKEY FOREST BAND, and Kiyonori Matsuo (松尾清憲) as well as handling production duties for countless other artists in Japan.
