窦唯

Dou Wei (Simplified Chinese: 窦唯; Traditional Chinese: 竇唯), a moody and creative Beijng musician of his generation, he started out as a lead vocalist of the pop-rock band, Black Panther (Hei Bao) and then left to pursue his own musical direction. From Bauhaus-derived, heavy Cure-influenced debut album, “Dark Dreams”, with the more ambient, electronic flavored follow-ups, “Sunny Days”, Mountain River, he seamlessly blends the Chinese rock music, Chinese modern folk and the ambient elements together to deliver a western music influenced yet distinctively Chinese tunes. Dou Wei has been gradually adding to a solo composition of innovative work that carries a much more international sound than anything else his peers are making. Later, he collaborated with the Chinese rock super group, E band and released, ground-breaking, Bark Psychosis-esque, “Hallucination” album which serves as the blueprint for the future Chinese rock music. Their second and last collaboration, “Rainy Murmur” (Yu Xu), a further exploration into the atmospheric music, was shelved by the record company. Now, Dou Wei moves on to perform with Beijing free Jazz ensemble, Not Sure Yet, yet another new chapter in his music career. ………………………………………………………………………… BAND ALBUMS Dou Wei & The Black Panther: Black Panther I (1991) Dou Wei & The Dreaming: Dark Dreams (1994) Dou Wei & E Band: Hallucination (1999) Dou Wei & E Band: Rainy Murmur (2...
