退格 or Backspace was founded in Beijing in July 2016. All four founding members are from a small city in Southern China. Like their name "Backspace", they are all sensitive young people in this digital age. The dry and nervous double-guitar base, the brief bassline, and the bold drum beats, create a sound that reflects the emptiness of reality. The questioning and repeating lyrics express their confusion and refusal to enter the corrupted adult world. Their music reminds people the Beat Generation, full of randomness and provocation.
