La:Sadie's

La:Sadie's was a famous visual-kei band from Osaka, Japan and the direct predecessor of DIR EN GREY. Members: Vo. - 京 (Kyo) Gt. - Die Gt. - KAORU Ba. - KISAKI Dr. - Shinya ex Gt. - 紫緒 (Shio) La:Sadie's was officially formed in December 1995 by 京, KISAKI, 紫緒 (ex-SHËY≠DË) and Die (ex-Ka・za・ri). After their third show on February 15, 1996, 紫緒 left the band and was replaced by KAORU (ex-CHARM). La:Sadie's officially disbanded on January 15, 1997; the break-up was rumored to be caused by KISAKI's unwillingness to participate in the major label ambitions of the rest of the band. After La:Sadie's broke up, KISAKI formed the band MIRAGE. Meanwhile, Kyo, Die and Kaoru continued to work together. 薫 (Kaoru) became the leader of the band and they eventually asked the former support bassist of GOSICK, Toshiya, whom they had met while playing in Nagano, to join them. He accepted and they played one live in Nagano on January 24, 1997, under the name DEATHMASK, where they covered about four songs by 黒夢 and where Toshiya had his presumably last show as the support guitarist of D†L. Deciding to form a band, they took on the name Dir en grey and officially formed on February 2, 1997. Ex-bassist KISAKI has since become a fixture of the indies visual rock scene in Japan, participating in various bands and as a solo artist, as well as forming the two labels UNDER CODE PRODUCTION and Matina.
