Without a doubt, these days we have a lot of amazing artists and bands, who blow our minds with each and every one of their songs. However, if you are a fan of disco, funk and more rhythms to bring out the forbidden steps on the dancefloor, you probably already know one of the most spectacular groups out there today. Of course we're talking about L'Impératrice. Straight from France to the world, Flore Benguigui, David Gaugué, Tom Daveau, Achille Trocellier, Charles de Boisseguin and Hagni Gwon got together and drew inspiration from their favourite artists to create songs of their own that would make anyone's best moves. And boy did they succeed, but not only that, they also managed to create a unique style where improvisation and musical experimentation are present at every turn. In 2012 they released their eponymous debut EP and continued to do so for several years, between short-lived material and singles. However, L'Impératrice took the big step up to 2018 with their first proper studio album, Matahari, which consolidated them as one of the most interesting proposals from their home country, but also a promising project for those who love vintage sounds.
