摩天楼オペラ


Matenrou Opera (摩天楼オペラ) is a Japanese symphonic metal band formed on October 2006 by Sono, the talented former vocalist of Jeniva. When Jeniva disbanded on October 14, 2006, Sono and fellow Jeniva drummer Yuu began working on their new band. All the members were already chosen before Jeniva finished disbanding. The name of the band was kept a secret until 23rd of February, when Yuu finally announced that it was Matenrou Opera, inspired by the anime Blood+. Their first single was alkaloid showase, released at their secret first live on April 28th at Urawa Narciss. On October 30th, Matenrou Opera announced guitarist Mika and keyboardist Karen would be leaving the band. While the news surprised many fans, the decision had apparently been long time coming, and they also announced that replacements had been taken care of. The last live with the original members was held on November 17th at Ikebukuro Cyber. It was not, however, until halfway through December when the names of the new members were announced: the new guitarist was Anzi, formerly of Sylphid, and the new keyboardist was 彩雨 (Ayame), who used to perform under the name soh in Ry:dia. Around the same time when the new members joined, it was also announced that Matenrou Opera would join the independent label Sherow Artist Society, owned by fellow visual kei star KAMIJO.
