Paul Wong (黃貫中) (Born March 31, 1964) is a singer/songwriter best known as the lead guitarist and vocalist for the now defunct Hong Kong band Beyond. Up til date, Paul has released 7 EPs and albums, the latest being the Mandarin version of the album 'I Still Exist' in 2007. Paul Wong is one of the few famous artists in Hong Kong who writes his own music and lyrics. Furthermore, he regularly criticizes the Hong Kong media for the lack of focus on the actual music at stake. Perhaps to set an example, he organized the Let's Fight-concert in 2007 where various indie bands had the opportunity to present themselves in front of a larger audience. Although his album-efforts are not chart-toppers, he is still widely respected for his work and dedication in music. In fact, he is viewed by many as the representor of 'band' or 'rock'-music in Hong Kong. Late June 2008, Paul Wong introduces the third round of the Let's Fight concerts, which proved to have exhibited enough excitement for a follow-up. Short history with Beyond: In 1985, he started his professional music career by joining Beyond, which fast became one of the most important bands in Hong Kong. The tragic death of lead singer Wong Ka-Kui in 1993 led to large uncertainties about the future of the band. Fortunately for the fans, the band decided to continue as a trio, and has eventually led to three more studio-albums.
