Alizée


Alizée Jacotey (born 21 August 1984 in Ajaccio, Corsica, France) is a famous French pop singer. She goes by the stage name Alizée (pronounced: /a.lɪ.ze/), the feminine form of alizé, the trade wind. She was discovered by Mylène Farmer, one of the most successful French pop singers, following her winning performance in the talent show, Graines de Star, in 1999. From 2000 until the year 2006 while collaborating with Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, Alizée released two successful albums and became a pop star inside and outside of France. She was then considered the protégée of Mylène Farmer. In 2006 she decided to end her collaboration with Farmer and one year later she released her third album,Psychedelices for the first time, without her artistic supervision. This album enjoyed limited success in France, but topped the charts(international) in Mexico. Alizée made her début with the single, Moi... Lolita on the 4 July 2000. It is her most successful single to date. It was a instant hit throughout most of Europe and parts of east Asia, reaching number one in several countries. Alizée's image was that of a seductive Lolita character, referring to the novel by Vladimir Nabokov. The video for the single showed Alizée as a village girl visiting a night-club.
