Antimony


There are multiple artists with the name Antimony: 1. Antimony were 3/4 of the Dischord band Circus Lupus (led by singer Chris Thomson, ex-Soulside, ex-Ignition). When Circus Lupus split up in 1993, drummer Arika Casebolt , bassist Seth Lorinzi , and guitarist Chris Hamley stayed together and played under the name Antimony. Chris and Seth both handled vocal duties, tag teaming half-spoken/half shouted passages. Phantom Itch (1995, Double Deuce), was produced by J. Robbins from Jawbox and mixed by Dischord's own Ian MacKaye. Musically Antimony is similar to the chaos created by Circus Lupus but released from Chris Thomson’s distinctive bark, the songs are less angular with a more loping feel. The band had already broken up by the time the record came out (an occurrence sometimes jokingly referred to as a “DC special”). 2. Antimony was formed with just four original members: Vocalist Ryan West, Drummer Sloan Reynolds, Bassist Kyle Maxwell, and Guitarist Dan Morgan. The band was formed during their sophomore year at Kelseyville High School. The band during this time was much softer. Antimony was, for just a little while, searching for a second guitarist. They tried some out and after being a band for two years they added their fifth member, Ryne Thorup. With the acquisition of a second guitarist Antimony began to develop a harder mix of guitars with harmonizing intro's, and shredding solo's.
