Drongomala


From early tape recorders Drongomala went on to lead Baby Bartok and played hundreds of gigs all over the UK before becoming involved in the Drum and Bass scene in Edinburgh during the 90's. Drongomala then helped form an Edinburgh based record label and put out a compilation record with three tracks under the name Drongo. In 2003/4 Drongo became Drongomala and set up his own label (Flying Mountain Records) and composed with top classical South Indian musicians in Kerala, India while living there for two years. Two records came out of this - Scale and 100 Fields along well as two books (Deriving Tonal Harmony from North Indian Ragas and some diaries). In Oct2005 Drongomala worked with some rappers from Oakland, California on the Elemental album just after New Orleans had flooded. Crash landing back in Manchester he then got together an electro punk band The Good Hurt which recorded an album before spectacularly blowing up. During his time in Manchester he produced a number of exciting projects with artists such as Louis Oak Anderson, Samasta, TheWhatSupreme, Sensei C and many others as well as running avante garde situationalist events under the banner of ElectroRaga. At the end of 2007 he recorded Lucky Man Alive in Cario over 4 hours. Drongomala and Boofa completed an soundtrack album called '12000 Miles as the White Crane Flies' in Aug 2009.
