There are two bands by this name: 1. Drowning Pool is an American rock band formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1996. The band’s name was inspired by the 1975 film The Drowning Pool. Since its formation, the group has included guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce, and bassist Stevie Benton, along with several different lead vocalists over the years. The band released its debut album, Sinner, in 2001. Original vocalist Dave Williams died on August 14, 2002, with the cause reported as heart disease. In 2003, Jason Jones joined as the new lead singer and recorded the album Desensitized (2004). He departed in 2005, citing musical differences. Ryan McCombs, previously of the band SOiL, then became the band’s vocalist and recorded two albums, Full Circle (2007) and Drowning Pool (2010), marking the first time the band retained the same singer for more than one studio release. McCombs left the band in November 2011 to rejoin SOiL. He was replaced by Jasen Moreno, who appeared on three albums with the band: Resilience (2013), Hellelujah (2016), and Strike a Nerve (2022), making him the group’s longest-serving vocalist at that time. Moreno left Drowning Pool in March 2023, after which McCombs returned as lead singer. ----- 2.
