Elecktra


The roots of Elecktra can be traced to Madrid, circa 1994. “No Flowers Field” (as the band was known in those days) started its public appearances around Madrid, sharing the stage with groups such as Sôber in intimate venues. In 2001 the band changed its name to Elecktra, but it was not until 2002 that the group was definitely completed. Elecktra’s pantheon of recordings includes several demos and a self-produced album, though it was not until September 2003 that the official first album was released all over Spain. “Portrait”, produced by Zero Records and distributed by Warner Records, is already among the best selling albums in shops like Madrid Rock, and with rave reviews from critics in both print and web media, the album has sealed its place among the best of 2003. The concerts around Spain are followed by a large number of people, not only in festivals (Opening Festimad with the large public never seen before in previous editions) but also in other stages (its first show in El Sol was reviewed in El País newspaper by a marvelous criticism). “Portrait” classified among the best album in music magazines and specialized webs (Rocksound), and Elecktra is honored with the “Spanish Revelation Band” prize in the 40 TV (Rock Station). The band films a video clip “Podium” wich wins the directors prize (among 400 tapes) in the mini DV Hollywood Festival, being consequently displayed in Los Angeles cinemas.
