Emina Jahović-Sandal (Serbian Cyrillic: Емина Јаховић-Caндaл; born January 15, 1982, in Novi Pazar, Serbia), known simply as Emina, is a Serbian pop singer of Bosniak origin. She is married to Mustafa Sandal, a Turkish singer. Her brother is Mirsad Türkcan, a naturalised Turkish basketball player. Emina completed basic school of music, performed in the choir of her hometown and took part in the local folklore ensemble. While she was in high school, she took part in several theatre performances, including Antigone. Since some of the roles included singing, she realised that singing was her real passion. In 2000, she won the youth festival Zlatna staza in Montenegro, with the song Samo ti, moja muziko. In 2002, Emina participated in the Bosnian Eurovision pre-selection with the song U, la-la. The song was the introduction to her debut album Tačka, composed by famous Bosnian singer and songwriter Dino Merlin. In 2003, she took part in the Sunčane skale festival in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, and won the third place with the song Uzalud se budim. That made her one of the most popular artists in the ex-YU countries. She took part in the festival again in 2004 with the song Voljela te il' ne voljela. In 2005, she released her second album, titled Radije ranije. She took part in the Budva Festival, Montenegro, with the song Nije više tvoja stvar, and won the Best Songwriter award.
