Fablefactory

Fablefactory was Johnson Clark, Roxanne Martin (Dixie Blood Mustache), Dave Wrathgeber (Visitations) and Chris Bishop. Fablefactory's first release was an EP called Fowell Byrd (recorded as a trio: Hank Wren (aka Johnson), Freckles Le Chat (aka Roxanne) and Davey), which was released in February 1999. Chris joined the band in time to record the first album, American Custard, which was released by Red Carpet Ring in June 1999 and featured Andrew from Elf Power, Julian from The Music Tapes and Neutral Milk Hotel, Dottie and Derek from Of Montreal and John from The Gerbils. The band contributed four songs to one side of the November edition of the Mr Whiggs cassette singles club. Their side was entitled Trot Not On The Poop Deck, and Scott Spillane (of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Gerbils) provided horns on the track Rok U! Evermo. Another single entitled They Come From the Planet Goo was released by the band (on their own label, The Uncomfortable Chair Co and distributed by Red Carpet Ring) in February 2000. Kirk Pleasant (from Calvin, Don't Jump!) helped out on this single. In the summer of 2001 the band finished recording their second album at home in Athens and parted ways. The album Freak Out Hard On You was released posthumously on the label Happy Happy Birthday to Me in October 2002.
