Gunesh Ensemble is one of the greatest bands from ex-USSR, leaded by one the finest progressive drummers, Rishad Shafi (The King of Drum) who was for many, including Peter Gabriel, the best drummer ever. Being from Turkmenistan, they are a Central Asian sounding progressive jazz/rock/fusion group. But Gunesh are better than that may imply. Having unexpectedly beautiful arrangements, polyrhythmic compositions with odd measure, this is surely a must have for every progressive lover. Of course, we should contextualize it in the geographical area and in the history period to justify the maximum vote. Read more on Last.fm.
