Hitohira


There is more than one artist with this name: 1. Hitohira (ひとひら) is an emo band based out of Tokyo, Japan. 2. A one-man industrial band from Olympia, Washington. The group was founded in 2007 and is currently maintained by its sole member, "C-Rin." After creating several demo albums, the group released an hour-long, 14 track album called "Something in the Way" in June 2010. This release, as well as their demo albums, can be classified as industrial, although many of their songs feature almost spontaneous syncopation and the use of blues scales. Hitohira's signature song is arguably "Cat-Head Imako," which showcases their distorted waves of static and their suffocating yet melodic sound. C-Rin has since abandoned Hitohira, and composes later music in the band Song of Saya under the name Tooru Sanbi. On March 1, 2012, a selection of tracks from "Something in the Way" were remastered and rereleased under the Song of Saya name, as the Cazimi EP. 3. A manga series by Izumi Kirihara, who later became known for doing the artwork for the Korean MMORPG Mabinogi. It revolves around a fragile, painfully shy girl named Mugi Asai and her membership in her school's unofficial drama club. The manga is serialized in Comic High! and currently has 6 volumes published. A 12-episode anime adaptation surfaced in 2007 under the direction of Akira Nishimori, whose credentials include InuYasha, Angelic Layer, Vampire Princess Miyu, and Gundam Wing.
