Imiskoumpria is currently the number 1 hip-hop group in Greece. They started off in 1993, slowly but steadily until they finally managed to give birth to the Greek hip-hop market. They signed their first CD contract in 1996 with an independent Greek label. The Group Consists of Dimitris Metzelos (MC), Mithridatis (MC) and Pritanis (DJ). Their songs are trully satyrical of the everyday life. The first CD they released in 1996 was called 30 years of Success and it hit GOLD in the tiny Greek Market, selling over 30,000 copies in a market of 10,000,000. Their second CD, called The LP that is being advertised was released in 1997 and this time hit PLATINUM when it sold over 50,000 copies. The next CD was a single one, entitled the Magic Comb, in 1998 and in the same year, their third full-CD was released, called Close Encounters with 3 Guys which turned GOLD having sold more than 30,000 copies. In 1999, they sign with Universal Music releasing their fourth CD, called 2030, while at the same time DEF JAM, one of America's biggest record labels, gives its label to the group. The mastering of this recors, took place in Sterling Sound. Imiskoumpria were thrice rewarded with the award of BEST GROUP in the Greek Music Awards. Read more on Last.fm.
