Infekto


Infekto (Riku Pentti) has been the broken beat pioneer in Finland since 1994. Nowadays also known as Rico Tubbs (an alias for his more straight up dancefloor breaks), he is also one half of the chart topping hip hop/beats producer duo Skillsters. Many Finnish hiphop acts have hired Infekto for his avantgarde scratching skills, and also to produce banging hiphop beats for several groups and vocalists. Infekto's tunes and DJ sets combine the whole spectrum of broken beats from funk to hiphop to nu-breaks to drum & bass, not forgetting the raw ol' skool hardcore sound of 92' and a touch of jazz. Left Hand Jazz, his first release on nine2five got rave reviews from some of the biggest names in the business, appearing on a Gilles Peterson comp on the cover of MUZIK magazine! What followed was a wide variety of breakbeat mayhem and critical acclaim on such UK labels as Passenger, Hospital, Menu Music and Heavy Disco, together with top notch bootegs (Me Myself and I, Infekto's Message etc.) - a string of amazing releases for the best labels in the world.
