Kokoura
Burkina Faso meets Senegal in Europe and Brazil! Kokoura means 'something new' and was formed by 3 young African musicians and later completed with 3 young Dutch musicians and the wonderful Brazilian singer Ceumar. Influenced by jazz, blues, samba, reggae and traditional music they are able to blend and mix all tastes into a wonderfull new sound! The base is strong but pure with calebasse, ngoni, djembe and ballaphon. On top of this base the Kokoura musicians add funky horns, jazzy guitar and a smooth bass. To make it complete: Brazilian singer Ceumar and the Burkina Faso born brothers Moussa & Adama Dembele add their voices to this unique sounding group from 3 continents! Musicians who performed on the album: Ceumar: vocals, cavaquinho Mousse Drame: percussions, vocals Adama Dembele: ngoni, vocals Moussa Dembele: ballophone, ngoni, vocals Ben Mendes: saxophones Tunestar: guitars Patrick Kuschel: bassguitar The album has been produced by Ben Mendes & Kokoura, recorded in Amsterdam and Sao Paulo.
