Laestrygonia


Laestrygonia (https://www.facebook.com/Laestrygonia) is a 4 piece instrumental band out of Geneva, NY who take their name from an island in Homer's Greek epic, The Odyssey. They formed in the winter of 2010 with the (broad) intent of making instrumental progressive metal. With influences from Cloudkicker to Meshuggah to Year of No Light, Laestrygonia planned to gel pieces of the post-rock, djent, and prog genres into an emotional spectrum of tension and release. Tending to trade technicality for nuance, Laestrygonia invites listeners to look inside and find out what the music is speaking to them personally. With harsh and obscure rhythm patterns to elegant, interlaced melodies, Laestrygonia aims to reach a wide audience with open minds. They released a demo in the summer of 2011 to honorable reviews. The great interweaving of dual guitar shredding mastery and the blistering precision of this band’s backbeat, is what this band does best and often.
