TNT: Merka is a country boy who creates scrambled tapestries of rhythm, referencing everything from early rave to jungle, then stitching it all together with a plethora of odd pop culture samples from film, TV and elsewhere. The Independent: A stream of fidgety breakbeats underpin rave, jazz, house, electro, reggae and funk sounds, assembled with obvious care and attention but no discernable logic. Imagine that piano which Tom Hanks skips about on in Big, if it was hooked up to Fatboy Slim’s sampler. Or what you thought New Rave might sound like, before you found out what it actually means.
