Morphsonic


As the name implies, Morphsonic mixes or morphs styles together and is constantly evolving: electronic, ambient, orchestral, rock, experimental, sometimes jazzy or with a hint of Latin ..... It is based around Cherie Flynn, (vocalist, keyboard player, flautist, guitarist, composer) who uses other musicians and composers such as 7 Wheels and Freqmaster when required. Cherie Flynn was born in Portsmouth, England in the early 70's and has been writing songs since she was 7 years old. Her father is a musician and instrument teacher. He worked with many famous jazz musicians in the 60's, such as Kenny Baker, Bill Le sage (who played with “The Dankworth Seven”), and Kathy Stobart (who was a tenor sax player in “The Ted Heath Band”) but he also played in pop groups and particularly enjoyed disco music when not playing jazz. This gave Cherie access to a wide range of musical styles at a very early age which continues to have a strong influence on her eclectic style of writing. Hearing her father play in an 18 piece big band from when she was only 4 gave her a passion for big bands, particularly 70's jazz fusion such as Herbie Hancock and Maynard Ferguson's big band. Cherie gained a fascination in synthesizer sounds from an early age, initially by hearing recordings by Jean Michel Jarre and then later by Howard Jones.
