NESMETAL


'NESMETAL' is Johnathan Godbolt. He was born in the fall of 1982 on October 18th. He currently lives on the east coast of the united states. I've always loved old Nintendo music, says Johnathan, and I've always loved the more extreme side of music. As a kid I always listened to more hard rock than anything, as of course what my parents permitted at that young age. Growing up with bands like Petra, and Stryper paved the way nicely for crossing over into the faster, more technical genres of metal, as well as creating an open mind towards the classic/progressive rock styles. A few of the bands that have had the most influence on NESMETAL are: Extol, Iona, Planet X, and The Indigo (a japenese pop band). Videogame music (both classic era, and present) helped in filling in just about every other style of music there is. You could say that he draws influence from everything he hears, not as in to copy this band or that band... but influence on more of an emotional level, to try to captivate and express a certain feel or mood. Nesmetal was born out of a curiosity: what would it sound like to mix metal with 8-bit sounds? That was how it started, back in 2003. Read more on Last.fm.
