Oryad
Coming from the mountains of Colorado and East Tennessee, Oryad is a progressive doom opera ensemble often described as mystic prog. Marrying the influence of prog, doom, and symphonic metals with classical and jazz, Oryad is charting new territory with material from their upcoming album, Sacred & Profane. The first two singles, released in early 2023, are Scorched Earth and Eve. The full album will be released May 25, 2023. With songs exploring grief, metaphysics, and the machinations of nature, Oryad is inspired by Greek and Norse mythology; the writings of Jung, Campbell, Eliade, and Camus; the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, Stephen Crane, and Charles Baudelaire; and Moira’s Appalachian heritage.
