Pleudoniem

Pleudoniem is a Dutch bass player who records most of his work in the studio. He has a 4-finger picking style, which enables him to play percussive bass riffs. He plays all the instruments himself, except for the drums because he says he just can't beat them. Although he has frequently been called bordering on funk, rock, and 80s, he does not consider himself as such. 'I grew up in the 80s and I like those styles, but I just do what feels best. If that comes close to a recognised style, then that is merely coincidence. There is also a lot of progressive rock and jazz in what I do.' He is said to write lyrics that make you feel uncomfortable in some or other way, and quite averse to superficiality. It shows in his lyrics in covert sarcasm, eerie twists, a mockery of unashamed egotism or a feeling of intangible loneliness. 'It is basically to get things off my chest, describing what I see around me, and imagining what might silently eat people up, or blur their judgement. I am fortunate to be the observer, rather than the subject of my writings...' Pleudoniem was also the bass player in Butterfly Salad. Read more on Last.fm.
