Receptors


From 2003 thru 2011, Receptors (led by Jeremy Kolosine of Futurisk, 8-Bit Operators) stood equipped with GameBoys & Nintendo DS (running mainly the LSDJ, Nanoloop, and Korg DS-10 cartridges) but also included Sidstation, occasional CircuitBends, and vocoded 12-bit stylophonic walkstations. Receptors performed at NYC's legendary Blip Fest, CMJ and Bent Festivals, showcased at Austin, Texas' SXSW Festival and Iceland's Airwaves Fest, and in 2007 Jeremy Kolosine performed the first ever circuit-bent performance(Leopold Mozart's Toy Symphony)with a full symphony orchestra (The Roanoke Symphony). The debut 7 EP Controller Array was released in 2005. In 2007 the critically acclaimed ReceptorsMusic compilation 8-Bit Operators - The Music of Kraftwerk on Astralwerks/EMI (Check out the Receptors interview on National Public Radio). That same year, The DFA's James Murphy commissioned Receptors to produce a set of unique Real ringtones for LCD Soundsystem's Sound Of Silver album release. The ringtunes , which are re-interpretations of all 9 tracks on the hit album, were arranged and created in 8-bit fashion on the gameboy synth. In 2008 Receptors released 2 albums of tracks produced on the Nintendo DS, including the first full-length release by an artist on the Korg DS-10 titled groKwork. In 2009, Receptors' Jeremy Kolosine completed construction of 21st Century Retro-Futurists, an audio/video installation for The Taubman Museum, and joined the Blip Fest Europe / 8bitpeoples...
