Region
Before Region the sonic explorations between sampling and ambient crossed paths of producer Daniel López, based in Ecuador, in 2014 release a handful of tracks thought out as a live set, controllers, and software in exchange for a band. Dawn, the first work as Region leans towards downtempo and drum machines, with synths that have been described as 'hope while decaying'. Quierde (2019), with 8 tracks comes forward as the more mixable in DJ or hybrid environments. From a decided four-on-the-floor, breaks and abstract, the pulse is powered by Andean and vernacular sources from the south, reimagined with degradation, FM synthesis, and randomness from the live set. Carnaval its latest track, is a homage to festivities in the deep Ecuadorian Andes. Read more on Last.fm.
