Roybot


formed in mainz/germany in 2005, roybot started as a band project consisting of carsten roth and damian weissmann who met each other at their civilian service. a few month later nicolai knoll joined them as a second guitar player and songwriter. after weeks of searching the next band member, dani schmitt, was found. she saw a bulletin in the record store ‘teenage wasteland’, in which the band was looking for a drummer. she came to join the band and with her the first serious rehearsals started. in 2006, carsten moved to hamburg and so the first singer of roybot was gone. nearly at the same time damian moved to china for two months and so rest of the band asked tim knillmann to join them in the meantime. in april 2007 the band moved into their new room in wiesbaden and, at the same time, malin welsch became the bass player. finally the band called themselves ‘roybot’. the first song ‘pornmachine’ was recorded in may 2007, followed quickly by ‘roybot ist da’ and the laptop production ‘an einem wochentag’. as dani became the new singer, tim came back and became the new drummer of the band. in june 2007 the band recorded a new song called ‘ich kenne ein mädchen’. the idea of recording a whole ep grew stronger. a few weeks later , then, the band started to record the songs ‘autobombe’ and ‘der einsiedler’. tim left the band in august 2007 as he moved to berlin and, with malin moving away shortly afterwards, things started to get a bit difficul...
