SM58


Sm58 is an underground rap group from Rome, Italy. It was created in 2003 and it's composed by Il Gobb (mc), Lesa (mc) and Lo Chef (dj/beatmaker). After a few months of work, in January 2004, the group releases its first full, autoproduced album Colpi di microfono. In March 2004, the first video, Roma racconta, is released and transmitted by the local TV station Magic TV and on SKY Italian Channel 620. Between December 2003 and February 2005 Sm58 perform over 120 live shows around Italy, starting to gain a little popularity in italian Hip-Hop and something more in Rome, its hometown. They participate to several musical contests, winning two of them (Suoni nella cava e CROCK - Cremona Rock Festival) and gaining many lesser awards, like the Best Group designed by Other Participants in the contest Voci di Roma. In April 2005 Sm58 affiliate a female breakers' crew called Fo'Show, and the VT Power writers' crew. The first organized tour takes place in July 2005: Sm58 is invited to perform before Barrington Levy at the Rototom Sun Splash Reggae Festival. The other shows are in Udine, Cremona, Rome (Rome Hip-Hop Parade 2005) and Lecce. One month after they're called to support the Wu-Tang Clan's show at Alpheus, in Rome, and start performing with many others italian groups like Corveleno, Abuso di Stile, Tiso, Amir and Mr. Phil. In December 2005 the group releaes an EP, Violenza gratuita, the one you can find on Last.fm, and the second video Liberi, broadcasted by SKY Italia...
