Salasa (さらさ) is a singer-songwriter from the Shonan region of Kanagawa. Influenced by the sorrowful themes of the blues and the sea-filled environment of her hometown, Salasa strives to input her own personal, negative life experiences into her music. Her deeper, jazzier and melancholic voice has paired incredibly well with the wide range of genres/styles she enjoys coneying, such as R&B, folk, soul, dance music and the aforementioned blues. While ‘Neo-Soul’ is the official genre that Apple Music categorizes her music under, Salasa personally believes she expresses a theme of her own, called ‘Lively Blues’. Inspired by the sadness and depression one can feel while living life or working in a labor-intensive society, she hopes to reflect those emotions within the music and lyrics she creates. As of this post’s publication, Salasa has released nine singles, one EP and one full album. She has also collaborated and performed with numerous artists such as Michael Kaneko, Shin Sakiura and Ohashi Trio. Read more on Last.fm.
