Saloma


(1) Puan Sri Salmah binti Ismail, known as Saloma (22 January 1935 - 25 April 1983) was a Malaysian film actress and singer. She was the third wife of the film actor, director, singer, and songwriter Tan Sri P. Ramlee. After her death on 25th April 1983 at Assunta Hospital, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, Saloma was buried in Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur next to the grave of her husband, P. Ramlee. In 2003, in honour of her contributions to the Malaysian entertainment industry, the Saloma Bistro was set up in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. (2) Saloma was an Argentine band created at the end of 1974. After performing on different theatres in Buenos Aires, the band released their only album. This album contained lyrics taken from poetry by Raúl González Tuñón, Osvaldo Ardizzione and Jorge Boccanera , and combined the music genres of Milonga, Tango and Candombe.
