This is a dual artist listing. 1) Silverhawk was a Jamaican sound system owned by the esteemed Steely Johnson of the legendary dancehall production duo Steely & Clevie. The sound was most active from 1987-1994, and along with Stone Love, led the transition from live artists to recorded dubplates being the dominant medium for live reggae sound system performances. Shortly before his death in late 2009, Steely had been working behind the scenes to bring the sound back on the road, and in January 2010, Silverhawk held its relaunch party in New York City, with promise of many more dances to come. 2) The Densmore Bros. (Sam and John), lead Silverhawk a Psychedelic/Americana/Rock n Roll Family Circus from Portland, Oregon. “Indie Rock for a new generation. And that’s a very good thing indeed.” Aiding and Abetting, 2004 Tar-black humor hangs in the air onstage as the Densmore Bros trade guitar, bass and lead vocal duties. Never missing a beat, they harmonize over adventurous sonic landscapes swollen by Anthony Cotham and Rob Allisons’s (Two Ton Boa, Freq. db) all out assault of keyboards/drums/and backing vocals.
