Hip-hop band from the north of Iceland that recently opened up for the hi-pop queens in Sugababes when they played in Reykjavik. Skytturnar is a hiphop group from Akureyri that has been together for five years. The band consists of seven individuals with different backgrounds, 4 mc's, 1 producer, 1 guitarist and 1 keyboard player. The group’s first LP, Illgresid, was released last year and was very succesfull, was reviewed as the best icelandic hiphop album ever and was on many top 5 lists of the best album of the year in Iceland. Skytturnar started as a normal hiphop band of four members but have developed into a band that isn’t afraid to bring influences from various musical trends and that can be heard on he new LP. Skytturnar has a reputation for powerful live act, recently they played for 5000 people as the opening act for Sugababes in Iceland. Read more on Last.fm.
