Starkeeper (Antwerp, BE) is the band of Ivy Smits and Dieter Meeuwis. Ivy started as a singer in the band Cinérex, considered as the first trip-hop band in the Low Countries. Things fell in place on one particular song called “Heavenly”. Studio Brussel listeners selected it as one of the best Belgian songs of the first decade. While Cinérex broke up, Arsenal came knocking at the door. This producers duo asked Ivy and Dieter to write and sing the first single Switch on the album “Outsides”. In the meantime she teamed up with Pieter Van Dessel from Marble Sounds and Plastic Operator. As a result of their creative minds Starkeeper was born.
