STARKIDS is a music collective based in Japan that started in around April of 2020. Consisting of 6 members: Space Boy, Espeon , levi, TAHITI, ROAR and BENXNI. The meaning behind the name is Forever stars, Forever kids that they will forever live like stars, and that they are above the rest. While also living like kids. Their main inspiration is the swedish collective drain gang but also artists such as Hella Sketchy, capoxxo, Soulja Boy and Yung Bruh. All the members of the collective are half or fully japanese though most of them have some connection to the US. Though the group has only been active for a couple years the individual history of the members go back much farther. Space Boy's musical history dates, at least, as far back as 2018, dropping music under both the moniker 'Space Boy' and recently under the username 'french cries' on SoundCloud. In 2021 he dropped his first mixtape titled Breakout. He also frequently does the editing for STARKIDS music videos. Espeon and Space Boy's musical history go hand in hand as they are close childhood friends, growing up together in the city of Honolulu. Her name comes from her interest in Pokémon when she was younger as Espeon was their favourite. Her history as a solo artist is not very well documented though she has been making songs with Space Boy since 2018. levi and TAHITI are both rappers and were, before STARKIDS, together in a group called 2A, short for double aces.
