The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon is known as TriMet to its fans in and around Portland, Oregon. TriMet has been rocking the populace with the stylings of its founding member, Bus, since its inception in the heady, post-Woodstock days of December 1969, the Winter of Love. After seventeen years as a solo-artist performing its classic Motor-City sound, Bus was joined by the Metropolitan Area Express Light Rail—MAX for short—in 1986. MAX introduced a high-speed, electric urgency previously missing from TriMet's oeuvre, and, with Bus, formed a bi-modal fusion duo whose work continues to move the public to this day. In 2001, following a lengthy international talent search, Czechoslovakian Streetcar was invited to join the band in a supporting role. Streetcar's advent made for the return of a long-vanished third mode in a city where it once flourished. Seven years on, now beloved for its deft, reliable slow jams, Streetcar has proven to be the darling of the downtown set. While still very much the Ringo to Bus and MAX's John and Paul, Streetcar has been laying down some B-sides of its own, and plans are afoot to extend its transportive stylings to tracks in the Lloyd District.
