TURNIOKI, the unique and exceptional folk group! Music they play is a mixture of folk music of Polish highlanders and rock, pop, reggae, funky and jazz. Except violin most of traditional folk instruments have been replaced with modern ones. Thus, traditional folk bass was replaced with bass guitar, viola and second violin were replaced with guitar and synthesizer while pipe and trąbita(a type of Polish folk wind instrument) were replaced with flute and tenor saxophone. Eventually the core of the traditional folk group was preserved while the sound is very much contemporary. What was left to complete the presentation of Turnioki as a folk group is only percussion and characteristic vocals of the leader. As a result of changes in instruments, the music played by Turnioki sounds even more energetic, lively and vigorous then its folk archetype. Musicians who make up the group are high educated, professional performers who graduated from various schools of music (Music Academy of Katowice - Jazz Faculty, Silesian University-Music Faculty).
