Umatic

A) Umatic is the name of a new music duo, and even though the two are siblings, they’re rooted in vastly different genres, so it was never in the cards that they would end up in the same musical constellation. They got their starts as kids with eight years of intense piano training with the Jewish concert pianist Frantz Rosenbaum. After that, their musical ways separated. Singer Mathilde followed the stirring rhythms of indie rock, while Lukas went the producer way, working with some of the upcoming hip hop stars from the Danish underground - under the alias Luxxx. After having appeared on numerous stages both in Denmark and abroad, their musical Grand Tours would bring them back together at the studio Trackdown in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro district, where their EP’s four tracks were made. The studio has previously housed names like Petter, jokeren, Royce da 5’9”, to mention but a few. Mathilde’s incredibly light, high-pitch vocals combine with Lukas’s heavy, melodious productions to bring night and day together like a flash of lightning across a night sky. Electrons spark, synthesizers pump while a rogue choir and geisha girls chant in - a combination that resists genre-fixing. The newly-established record label Horror Comfort has released the first EP, called Desert Nights, whose first single with the same name is enclosed here. Desert Nights has resonated as far away as LA, where agents and bookers have set their eyes on the dynamic duoive. Get ready for...
