Waterflow

The international band Waterflow (2005-2009) evolved out of the combination of two bands that spontaneously came together at the European World of Bluegrass (EWOB) in 2005. The group decided to keep working together on a tour basis and merged their bandnames to form Waterflow. The band played a very diverse set of acoustic music with aspects of bluegrass, jazz, swing and country and toured Europe for five years where it played at famous bluegrass festivals such as Bluegrassfest (SK), Dobrofest (CZ), EWOB (NL) and Picnic Festival (BE). Besides cover versions of pop and progressive bluegrass songs, the band played a lot of original material with music by Michal Barok and lyrics by Loes van Schaijk. The band was demanding too much time and energy from its band members, which was taking its toll on the social and creative processes in the band, marking its official end. However, the musicians are still connected and get together about once a year in diverse musical projects. The first line-up of the band in 2005 consisted of the Slovak musicians of the band Flowline -Peter Balaz (guitar), Michal Barok (mandolin), Roman Sykora (double bass) and Richard Cifersky (banjo)- and the Dutch duo Waterfly -Mariska Petrovic (vocals, guitar) and Loes van Schaijk (vocals). ...
