James Joseph Dickens II (born June 11, 1994), known professionally as Whitenoise, is an American rapper, songwriter, graphic and website designer. Acknowledged with bringing the hip hop industry to Toledo, Ohio, a city notoriously known as the Glass City. Whitenoise’s local achievements have helped him push barriers, most independent artist wouldn’t fathom. Most think his name is controversial with him being a Caucasian male and having white in his name but it’s actually nothing more than a pun. White Noise is actually a sound that drowns other sounds out giving his name more than one meaning. He has been an icon to any artist wanting to obtain an entity name thought to be impossible and is considered to have one of the best images in his state. Whitenoise’s life was far from normal. James grew up on the North end of Toledo in an environment that imbued drugs and violence most of his childhood. He was involved in many cases which ultimately led to Lucas County Children Services stepping in and taking him away from his parents at the age of 10. He then got his life turned around when his aunt and uncle took custody of him. He graduated from high school in 2012, and changed his life for the better. Unsure of what he wanted to become in life at first, he fell into confusion that led him to seek his roots.
