Since 2003, bllix has been the primary electronic music project of Oregon-based solo artist, bllix. Beginning her musical endeavors with the violin at age six, cello and classical guitar were later added to her studies. Electronic instrumentation and composition surfaced in the mid-1990s, leading to several informal releases in the Industrial and Experimental Electronic genres during 1998 - 2001, under various aliases (including Defective Unit and [[]]). In 2003, she took on the moniker 'bllix' for several releases in the IDM, drum and bass and down-tempo genres. Later that year, Audiobulb Records signed bllix to release three tracks on label compilations, beginning with Duir on Exhibition #2 and In the Pines on Random Releases. Other Audiobulb releases included document.write on Switches and her final on-label release, Defailir on Exhibition #3 in 2006. Reviews of these and other self-released tracks described bllix's sound as an unpredictable hybridization of Ikeda-style glitch, classic electronica such as Boards of Canada, and percussion heavily influenced by Aphex Twin. Hallmarks of the bllix musical style are classical melody, atmospheres, skittery beats, bittersweet synth pads, and micro rhythms. While she has not released material to the public since 2006, bllix has continued to produce and perform electronic music, which evolved into heavier styles such as breakcore, dark ambient, broken beats, and darkcore. www.bllix.com www.soundcloud.com/bllix www.twitter.com/...
