シャ乱Q


シャ乱 (Sharan Q) is a Japanese pop-rock band formed in 1988 and consists of lead singer Tsunku (つんく♂), Hatake (はたけ) on guitar, Makoto (まこと) on drums, and Taisei (たいせい) on keyboard. Their music was a combination of rock and pop, with a little funk thrown in. Known as much for their style and clothing as their music, Sharan Q’s members often performed in outrageous looking outfits. They debuted in 1992 with 18ヶ月 (18kagetsu), not an instant hit initially, but their fourth single 上・京・物・語 (Jōkyō Monogatari) broke the top 50 of the Oricon charts. Eventually, シングル ベッド (single bed) got a lot of attention since it was used in the DNA² anime series, breaking into the top 10. The next single ズルい女 (Zurui Onna) also broke into the top 10 and became the 84th best-selling single in Japan of all-time. Furthermore, their 11th single 涙の影 (Namida no Kage) topped the charts in 1996. The band held an audition on the morning show ASAYAN in 1997 to find a new female vocalist. While the audition eventually yielded winner Heike Michiyo (平家みちよ), the competition would be the impetus for the formation of Morning Musume. (モーニング娘。). Runners-up Yuko Nakazawa, Natsumi Abe, Kaori Iida, Aya Ishiguro, and Asuka Fukuda took up Tsunku's offer after the competition to form a group he would personally produce, if they could sell 50,000 copies of their debut independent single 愛の種 (Ai no Tane).
