服部隆之


Takayuki Hattori (服部隆之, born November 21, 1965) is a Japanese music composer and arranger for TV dramas, animation movies, stage dramas, video games, films, pop songs and orchestration concerts. With influence from his father 服部克久 (Katsuhisa Hattori, composer/arranger), and his grandfather 服部良一 (Ryouichi Hattori, composer/lyricist), he went to Paris to continue his studies. He majored in music theories (studying haromony and couneterpoints) at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He returned to his hometown in 1988 and has started writing music for many CMs, dramas, films and video games. Sankoku V (三国志V) represents one of his most classic video-game music works, with eastern melodies blending with western harmonies. Nodame Cantabile (2006) is one of his most top-selling OSTs after the drama becomes a big success in Japan, China and Europe. Shinsengumi (NHK Daika Drama) and Train Man (電車男 Film) are very well known in Japan as well. He often uses modulation in his orchestration works. The change of tonality which makes his music sounds very colorful and diversed.
