Ginnungagap

There are three known groups named Ginnungagap. The first is a hardcore punk from Prague, Czech Republic. The unit released a 12 LP in 2017 called Nejsi Vítěz (You are not a winner). The second and still active Ginnungagap is an ambient side-project from Seattle, Washington, United States of Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), Lotus Eaters, Khanate, among others) formed in 2002. The music is a less guitar oriented version of drone, utilizing many middle and far eastern instruments and keys. Guest musicians such as Dawn Smithson, Anthony Sylvester and Alexander Tucker have also appeared in some albums. They have recorded two full-length albums and two EPs since 2004. The third, starting in 1998 and ending in 2007, was the Ginnungagap choir, a young, Norwegian vocal ensemble consisting of sixteen singers between the ages of 20 and 30. From the start in 1998 the group sought out new and exiting choral music. The choirs performances were wide ranging; they gave concerts in pubs and cathedrals, they appeared on national television several times, and they won choral competitions in Norway and abroad. Ginnungagap released two critically acclaimed CD's. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
