Mover

NB: This article concerns the UK band named Mover and should not be confused with the US band of the same name. 1) A band from the UK, featuring who released their debut album, Mover on Superior Quality Recordings in 1998. Mover included the singles Tricolore, We Got It Going On (featuring Ruby Turner) Classic No.9 and Move Over. The album was a energetic mix of soul, funk and indie, drawing influences from Motown to Manchester. Mover was good enough to get the band noticed in the UK music press and radio, but failed to prick the public's consciousness. It was a different story in Japan, where sales were far better and the band were well received when touring there. On the 10th July 2000, Mover released a 5 track EP That's It, on Superior Quality Recordings, with tracks like The Runner, You The Man and Made demonstrates a harmonic, funky but relaxed indie/rock sound. The band supported The Bluetones in Japan during 2000. They then went on to release a full 11 track album Fly Casual in the UK and Fly Casual 2 in Japan. Fly Casual had limited success in the UK and Mover split soon after. 2) Mover was an alternative band hailing from Wigan, England, 2000-01. Read more on Last.fm.
