Reina


Reina may refer to one of three artists that go with the same name: 1. New York-born Reina (Queen in Spanish) began singing mostly inspired by her mother who used to perform at a young age. After participating in the musical Fame with a song called Out Here on My Own, Reina decided to become seriously involved in pop music. That opportunity came while working as a backup singer for contemporary rhythm & blues diva Deborah Cox and dance music artist Corina. Reina's debut single, Find Another Woman, produced by Hex Hector, climbed to number two on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and achieved a nomination at the Winter Dance Music Conference in Miami. Anything for Love followed soon after. 2. reina is a dancer and R&B artist from a creative collective called w.a.u. She was influenced by various black music from her childhood, especially 90's hip-hop/R&B such as ATCQ, Mobb Deep, and Soulquarians. She is a rare R&B singer in Japan who has a unique, rich voice but relaxed and with yet distinctive quality, and also the ability to rap at times. Even before releasing her own songs, she had already performed with various artists such as Takuya Kuroda, Salasa, VivaOla, Wez Atlas, and other leading artists in w.a.u.'s band sets.
