Reincarnatus


Reincarnatus is a band from Limburg, Netherlands. They combine pop music with medieval music, using traditional instruments such as bagpipes, reed, fiddle, bouzouki and hurdy-gurdy mixed with pop/rock instruments such as drums, bass, electric guitars and synthesizers, all performed by the band itself. The lyrics are in Latin or in other old medieval European languages, providing a very mystical mood. The band was founded by Renate Dirix and Joyce Hammers in 2005. Renate studied saxophone and bassoon at the conservatory in Maastricht, Joyce Hammers followed a study program for TV maker, all other band members also studied at a conservatory. Within one year after forming the band had their first theatertour in The Netherlands. An in-house-made mini-CD followed in 2006. In May 2008 followed the release of the long-awaited debut album Media Vita. Frontwoman and musical leader Renate Dirix wrote all the music in collaboration with the renowned producer Haro Slok. In June, the CD ‘album of the week’ on Radio 2 to the ‘Golden Hours’ of DJ Daniel Dekker, reaching a high place in July in the Dutch Album Top 100. Reincarnatus have been performing in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany in theaters, festivals and various poppodia.
