schintaler

This Dutch group was founded in the end of 1995 in Limburg by Martin Diederen, John Diederen, Willy Brouns, Eric Heijnen, Roger Diederen and Patrick Zelissen. Later Guido Frissen joined them as a frontman and guitarist. The Schintaler wanted to record Dutch dialect music (Limburg) in a commercial way. The Schintaler got well-known in the region after the release of the single 'Mien Limburgs landj'. In 1996 they released their first album 'Golvend Heuvelland', and they continued with succesful releases of 'De Waeg door 't Hart' and 'Sjtilte veur de Sjtorm'. In 1999 they recorded the live album 'Sjrpinglaevend' in De Hanenhof in Geleen, the Netherlands. The group had succesful tours in several parts of the Netherlands in the period 1999-2003. After the recording of the album 'Vriegevochte', they released another album 'Druimdanser in Utopia' with several guest musicians. All the albums contain only songs in dialect. Then the decision was made to produce a Dutch album called 'Los', with this album the Schintaler hoped for a national breaktrough, but because of various circumstances this failed. They decided to record another album in their dialect which was called 'Welkom in Limburg'. This album was succesful, but due to problems with the albums distribution, a major succes was not achieved. Read more on Last.fm.
